Disability Support Officers
2 Roles Available
Location: Central West Queensland (Flexible: Barcaldine, Blackall, Longreach, Winton, or surrounding areas)
Classification: SCHADS Award Level 3 (with opportunity to step into a Supervisor role)
Hours: Part-Time, negotiable

Outback Independent Living (OIL) supports people with disability across Outback Queensland to access the services, opportunities, and resources they need to belong and thrive. As the recognised peak body for people with disability in Central West Queensland, we provide assistance to individuals, families and carers, including support for NDIS access, assessments and plan reviews, referral pathways, information for accommodation and respite, and employment pathways. Our work is grounded in collaboration, capacity building, and empowering individuals and communities to create inclusive and sustainable solutions in remote areas.

We are looking for two passionate Disability Support Officers (DSOs) to join our team. These roles are based in Central West Queensland and focus on engaging with local communities, connecting individuals with disability to services, and fostering meaningful relationships.
Opportunities exist for one of these positions to step into a Supervisor role – overseeing other officers within our region.
What You’ll Do:
Build strong relationships with individuals, families, and local communities
Connect people with disability to the services, supports, and opportunities they need
Work collaboratively with local stakeholders, including service providers, councils, and community groups
Support, supervise and mentor other officers

We value passion over experience. You don’t need prior qualifications or work history in health, disability, or community services—just a strong commitment to supporting people with disability.
You’ll Succeed If You:
Are passionate about creating positive outcomes for people with disability
Enjoy working with people, building relationships, and connecting communities
Have strong communication and organisational skills
Are willing to learn and grow in a supportive team environment
Hold a valid driver’s license (essential)
Nice to Have (but not essential):
Any experience in the health, disability, or community services sectors
Familiarity with the NDIS or other support systems
